Around the House

Yesterday was not a good day for Aaron. First, he was very hard to get out of bed, then he cried when I told him he had to go to school. He said, and I quote, "I want to play with friends that don't speak Spanish." LOL! Kids are so honest, aren't they. SoI felt bad for him and let him stay home. Then, Richard and I drug him all over McAllen why we ran some errands, then we went home and started some chores. While I was cooking, he went to his room to watch cartoons. I went to get him for supper and he was sound asleep. It was only 6:30. YIKES! I decided to just let him sleep and see how it went. I was afraid he'd never go back to bed on time if I woke him up then. Around 10:30 he woke up and asked for something to drink and went back to bed and didn't get up again until 7:00 this morning. Poor Baby was tard (tired for those of you not familiar with the southern version of it).

Then there's Petey. My very stealthy, Pro-athletic, hunting, descendant of a lion who thinks he's hiding. I never said he was smart.

And last, but not least, there's sweet, precious, should've-been-a-moma-dog, Zoey, who loves her stuffed chipmunk that she got for Christmas. She carries it everywhere, from room to room. She really is very gentle. She even grooms the silly animal much like a moma-dog would do to puppies. not so much the licking, but the nipping at fleas motion.
So that's all for now. Have a blessed day.

Night-Night Zoey

We felt bad that Zoey was having to use this chair for a pillow so we bought her a new bed. Jus t kidding, although she really does use the chair to hold her head up sometimes, she's so lazy. For the past year our mattress and boxspring has been on the floor and Zoey has been able to get in the bed with us and sleep. We FINALLY have a headboard and frame and the mattress set is off the floor, YEAH!!! But poor old Zoey can't get in the bed any more. So we bought her a new bed to go in our room. She's so happy!!!

busy, busy, busy

Wow. Things have gone from some ole, same ole to really busy in the last few days. Richard actually managed a 4 day weekend and we've been taking full advantage of it. It's mostly been about Andrew since this is the weekend of his birthday and also the first year we haven't been able to have a "small"(LOL) family party for him. We wanted to make it special for him...although Aaron and Zoey managed to make a few appearances in there as well. Friday we went to the beach at South Padre Island. We took Zoey for the first time ever to the beach. What fun that was she did a lot better than we imagined she would. And for being a retriever, she's not very fond of water, that is, not until she discovered the ocean. The dog loved it! We had to keep her close to the beach because she would go out where she couldn't touch and get tossed under by the waves. There was a strong under-tow that day so i was a little nervous about letting her go out too far.
Enjoy these short movies.

Then on Saturday we finished game 3 of a mid-Season baseball tournament in the town/city of Hildalgo (which is about 10 miles from Mission). The boys didn't win but they played hard. The final score was 9-8. Bummer. We all thought they had it, too. While we were waiting at the field for the games to start, Aaron and I would go to the playground and wait. This is where Aaron makes one of his appearances. I call these pictures "GIVE YOUR GRANDMOTHERS A HEART-ATTACK!"

On Saturday we went to a fun place in McAllen called The Zone. The inside is kinda like Chuck E Cheese, but the outside is really cool, especially for boys. They have a go-kart track, batting cages, bumper boats, and miniature golf. Andrew took a friend, Darren, ANd the rest of our family went. I had the most fun on the bumper boats. Aaron really wanted to ride the boats so i took him in one boat, Andrew and Darren each had their own boat, and two other kids I don't know had their own boats. NOW, I'm the only adult out there and poor Aaron is stuck with me. What we didn't realize was the boats had a button to squirt water at other boats. YEAH. LOL. Even the two kids we didn't know where spraying me with water. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time and i think i was wetter from this than any water ride at Disney or Sea World! We had a blast! And thank goodness Richard was there to take pictures.

Today is kind of a restful day as Sunday should be. Richard took Andrew to the movies to see IRONMAN While Aaron and I are chillin'.

I know this weekend was about Andrew, and I didn't really tell you much about him, but I'll do that in another post.

I hope you have all had a great weekend and I pray that the Lord poured his blessings on each of you as he did us this weekend.

Home Remedies

Well, i thought i'd pass this along...i found a pretty cool website www.home-remedy.org when i was researching home remedies for killing fleas. It's got some pretty cool stuff on it. But as for the fleas, this is most interesting. Garlic. it said that cats can have up to 1/8 of a tsp a day for not more than 2 weeks and dogs over 50 lbs. can have up to 2 tsp. a day. So far Zoey has had two days of 1 tsp a day on her food, and the fleas are not really dead, but very lathargic and slow which is making them easier to catch and kill. Maybe after a few more doses the fleas will just drop off dead. Wouldn't that be nice. As for Pete, I'm trying to figure out a way to get him to eat garlic. He;s very picky about his food, and the garlic-flavored milk didn't go over too well. i thought about making little hamburger meat balls with the garlic but i'm not sure that much raw meat would be good for him. although, his ancestors only eat raw meat...right?
