Sue the Dinosaur

Today we went to see Sue the T-Rex. She's the largest, most complete t-rex skeleton ever found. She was found in south Dakota i think and her actual bones are in chicago. the display we saw today was a replica of the actual skeleton, well at least we think it is. I can't imagine the actual skeleton being on a traveling display. So anyway, Andrew was so excited to see it and aaron was more excited to play with the displays that were interactive. all-in-all we had a good time.

A Christian Pumpkin

This is something we did about 3 years ago. Aaron was too little to carve his own pumpkin and I'm not really fond of scary-faced jack-o-lanterns. i found this on the internet and I was really impressed by it. So much so that I even printed up the poem and handed it out with candy hoping that more Christians will display these for Halloween.
A Christian Pumpkin
---------------------
I am a Jack O' Lantern
My light will shine so bright
For I am a Christian pumpkin
My symbols tell what's right.
My nose is like the cross
on which our Savior died
To set us free from sin
We need no longer hide.
My mouth is like a fish
The whole wide world to show
That Christians live in this house
And love their Savior so!
The story starts at Christmas
My eyes are like the star
That shone on Baby Jesus
And wise men saw from far.
My color it is orange
Just like the big bright sun
That rose on Easter Day
Along with God's own Son.
And so on Halloween
Let's set our pumpkins out
And tell the trick or treaters
What God's love is all about!

Knee update

Well, we went to the surgeon today and we got good news. no surgery!!! Yeah! Apparently he has arthritis and this is causing him to have a "locked knee-cap" so hopefully with physical therapy and exercise he'll be good as good can be in no time. thanks for your prayers.

Knee Update

Richard went to the orthopedic surgeon this morning. So far the diagnosis is torn meniscus in the left knee. He is having a MRI done right now and we go back to the surgeon tomorrow to find out what the plan of treatment will be. Keep him in your prayers.

SAY CHEESE!

AARON! Need I say more. He's a lot like his dad in the sense he loves cheese and can just sit and eat cheese. I'm not like that. Cheese is not my favorite thing. Anywhoo, Aaron wanted a snack before dinner and asked for a bowl of cheese. I said okay, but because I was busy with something else at the exact moment that he wanted it, he decided to get it himself...

When I finally found this he was hiding in his room and wouldn't come out for a picture with the cheese. Poor baby thought he was in trouble, but all we could do was laugh. Luckily most of it went in the bowl so I was able to save it.

i'm back!!!

i bet you thought i was never coming back? well ... i did. the sad thing is there's really not a lot to write about because nothing exciting happens here. so I've included some misc. pictures of things that we have done and hopefully things will be more exciting from now on.

this was the funniest thing. i think all kids put on their dad's shoes at some point and it's always so adorable, but Aaron put on Richard's work boots which are really heavy and he could barely walk.
we visited king ranch in kingsville, TX a couple of weeks ago. all we got to see was the welcome center because when we got there, the tours of the ranch were over. needless to say we are going to go back, probably when karleene comes in December. and of course Andrew found a tree to climb.

then we met daddy for lunch one day at a park near the area he was patrolling. Andrew has been wanting a picture with his dad so we took this opportunity to take some picts.

like i said not much happening here. i think things are starting to get better though. yesterday the boys and i went to the park next to the library and there was another lady there with her kids. she started talking to me by saying what a nice day it was that the breeze was really nice and it was a great day to take the kids to the park. i responded yes it was...theN she said to me "you're not from here are you?" i told here no that i was from nc. she replied that neither was she. then she asked me how long i've been here. i told her only a year. she said she remebered her first year here, how depressed she was, how she had no friends, how click-y the women here are and how they make you feel like and outsider and how she cried nearly every day. it was like looking at myself in the mirror. i truely believe God sent me an angel yesterday. we talked for about two hours why the kids played, and theN she invited me to come hang out with her and her girlfriends every friday at the same park after school. she said the kids all play and the moms just sit and visit. you know...girl time. i truely felt blessed to have met her. and i thanked her for talking to me and inviting me to meet her friends. she was very encouraging and said all you need are a few good girlfriends and you can handle anything. and you know, she's right. so to all my girl-friends... i love you and imss your support and friendship.
