Happy Mother's Day
I hope all you mom's out there had a great Mother's day this year. I missed seeing my mom and mother-in-law this year. Holiday's can be very lonely when you're away from family. Anyway, my boys made the weekend very special for me. On Saturday we went to the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville. We had a really great day. I always love going to the zoo. And when we returned home and I was looking at the pictures I took, I had several that were mothers and babies. Neat, huh?
This is a mommy gorilla. If you look closely, under her left hand, she's holding a new baby! how exciting! they rolled around on the ground, climbed down to the watering hole, and she was so very gentle with the baby the whole time. All the while the big Silver back was hangin' out in the shade of the cave with his feet up in the air. Doesn't he know it's mother's day?
Then in the Australia exhibits we saw a mommy kangaroo with her little joey. They were taking a nap and she had covered the baby up with hay. It was so sweet.
And of course there were the ducklings. I'm not sure how many she had, but there were a lot of babies following her around.
Then we visited the nursery where the petting zoo was. Andrew was drawn to the baby camel, but Aaron liked watching the goats make poo-poo every where. What a great time!!!
Looking at all the pictures of the mommies and babies and reflecting on my recent study of Genesis, isn't it wonderful how God was so gracious to bless our existence with such wonderful things. What a boring place the earth would be with out the animals and creatures of the world.Saturday, April 26, 2008

Gramma's visit to South Texas
We went armadillo chasing! Literally! we went to a park that has a large open field and it was full of armadillo's. we were trying to get close enough to at least one to get a good picture and ended up chasing several. We laughed and had a great time doing it. i'm just glad the park rangers didn't see us.

Then Richard took us to see this really cool tree that he found on one of his patrols. it's over 900 years old. It's not real tall but it's really big around. Andrew, of course, tried to climb it, but it's not as easy to climb as the tree in front of Clinchfield Baptist.

And of course we had to go to South Padre island! This is my favorite part of being where we are. it's only a little over and hour to get to the beach. The kids had a great time even though the water was cold. Aaron played in the sand and got a little wet, and Jonathan and Andrew ventured out in the waves and had a great time. Mom and i just kicked back on the beach and relaxed. i have to tell this story though. Jonathan is going to kill me. He forgot to take his wallet out of his pocket before he got in the ocean, so needless to say, he made a donation to the "save a whale foundation of S Padre Island"!!!

i know, i know, i know
Andrew is doing a lot better. he's finally making friends here in the community. We actually had a play dat the other day. Madison and Darren were here most of the day and what a great time they had. i think the boys would have had a better time with out madison, but i was babysitting for the neighbor so they didn't have much choice. School's getting better for him too. he made the a-b honor role this 6 weeks. YEAH!!! he's really excited about that.
thanks for all your support and prayers. we really appreciate all you've done for us. we love you.
p.s. i'll try to do better and get more picts on here.

Silly Songs with Aaron
This has nothing at all to do with Christmas except the fact that my sis-in-law got this great set of instruments for Aaron last year for Christmas. He still loves dragging them out and singing songs. This was particularly funny and i wanted to share with everyone. let me set the stage...imagine (if you can/will) a Veggietales video. There's always a place where Archibald the assparagus interupts and announces..."Silly Songs with Larry" Except this time he says, "silly songs with Aaron. the part of the day where Aaron comes out and sings a silly song. "
just incase you're wondering what song he's singing, it's We are the pirates who don't do anything.
enjoy!
